In today’s competitive job market, both students and alumni face numerous challenges as they navigate the transition from academic life to building successful professional careers.
Recognizing these challenges, the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs (OAAA) has launched the AUS Alumni Mentorship Program — a unique initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.

Growth becomes more meaningful when experience is shared. It is a privilege to give back to AUS while supporting others, knowing that mentorship is a journey of mutual growth. As mentees build confidence and direction, mentors grow alongside them. I believe that personal growth creates positive change that extends far beyond ourselves.
Amal Al Ghammai
Proud to be part of the AUS Mentorship Program and give back to the community that shaped my journey. Looking forward to connecting, sharing experiences, and supporting future leaders along the way.
Amina Abdulrahim
Being part of the mentorship program is my way of giving back to American University of Sharjah, a place that didn’t just shape my career, but also my mindset and values. I’m looking forward to meaningful conversations, sharing real experiences, and hopefully making the journey a little clearer and less overwhelming for fellow graduates as they step into their next chapter.
Aya Yassein

I joined the mentorship program to provide the straightforward guidance needed to accelerate professional growth. My goal is to help fellow AUS graduates navigate corporate dynamics, build high-value relationships, and effectively position themselves for the next stage of their careers.

One of the standout moments from the Fall 2024 pilot phase was the mentorship between Alumnus Mohammad Atallah (CEN, 2019) and Celia Jeesan (CEN, 2023). Mohammad mentored Celia through a tailored growth plan, providing insights on career progression and industry-specific strategies. Just weeks after their mentorship sessions, Celia successfully secured a Technical Project Management Intern role! This success showcases the profound impact of the program, where mentorship fosters career growth and empowers students to take meaningful steps in their professional journeys.

“I stepped into the AUS Mentorship Program not just looking for a job, but already in the midst of a career transition, searching for clarity. What began as a job search became a journey of redefining my path. I no longer wait for direction; I take action, and clarity follows. Instead of chasing ‘a job,’ I’m shaping my career. My mentor didn’t give me answers; she reshaped how I ask the right questions and who I ask them to.”

“This mentorship program totally pushed me out of my comfort zone, in the best way. When I started, I was just hoping to build some confidence and figure out how to navigate the job market. Not only did I get that, but I walked away with so much more. My mentor’s guidance and the stories she shared about her own career journey completely shifted how I see things. I’m honestly grateful to my mentor Ms. Nancy Ohanessian for not just sharing advice but actually taking the time to get where I was coming from. Even though the program’s done now, I keep catching myself using her tips: like how she taught me to reframe my self-doubt during interviews or network with confidence. Turns out, she gave me tools I’ll use way beyond just landing a job!”
